Thursday evening I attended a performance of the Fort Wayne Ballet’s presentation of “The Nutcracker” and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to enhance their holiday experience this year. It’s all the things that Tchaikovsky would have liked, grand, classic and charming! The Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra as well as The Fort Wayne Children’s Choir provided for our ears the same magic that the performers provided for our eyes.
My friend, Brad, has a role in it and I’ve been teasing him ever since he told me about it. As I was getting ready to leave for the show, I even sent him a text message saying, “I feel like I need a nap. Oh, wait – I’m going to a two hour nap!” Of course, this (and all the other jabs) was just in fun – the performance is, simply, beautiful.
So many people realize that dance is part of “the arts” but until you see it in person, you don’t realize that the art of dance is as mesmerizing as music, as compelling as painting and as stately as sculpture. You have to see it to appreciate it – and I suggest you take in a performance of The NutCracker.
The ballet is being presented through December 13. Trust me, winter will be a lot warmer if you see The Nutcracker this year!
At the Christmas dance,
That magic time of year when dreams come true.
Yeah, the Christmas dance,
The only dance I want to dance is you.

I saw it a few years back and would love to see it again.
